It's........ actually kinda weird if you stop to think about it.
(To be perfectly fair, the Japanese term for when a Pokémon has fainted implies more that its health is in a critical condition, not necessarily that it is unconscious. So I suppose a Pokémon in a critical state could still have the awareness to use a field move for you.
....... It's still a little mean though.)
